There are two types of personality in society, one kind of people is the one who would say they really care what other people think about them and other sets of people are the ones who would say they give a damn about what other people think about them. Let’s start with type two personality who says I don’t care what the other person really thinks about me.
But wait a minute, is it actually how we behave? Do we actually behave, act, and respond to society with that logic.
Say you say, Yes!
But when you go to the Sunday Church, do you make sure you dress appropriately, or for a matter of fact say you just go out of your house, you make sure you are appropriately dressed. You don’t walk out Naked with your philosophy of Who cares what others have to think about me? Right?
So if that’s true, it means you really care what others think about you? You make it a point when you are in front of people you walk, dress, and behave in a moral code. Correct?
Which contradicts out our statement of Who cares about what others think about me?
Deep inside We actually, care what others think about us?
See we live in a complex world; we are constantly battling our thoughts against someone else’s thoughts and try to act accordingly. Well, there is nothing wrong with it until it becomes overwhelming.
Like you stop acting more like yourself and start acting in ways other people want you to behave. Just imagine a life where every second passing by you are constantly doing things that other people are expecting of you and not exactly what you really want to do.
So the big question is, What we Do? If we don’t care what others think about us and everyone starts acting in their own way, this world would look like a giant psychopathic asylum. People walking naked on the street, people abusing other people doing whatever they like and stop caring less for others. Correct?
So see, we have these two sides of the coin. And the problem is which side we should be on? Should we just keep doing things what is expected of us considering we are a social animal
Should we be on the other side of the coin and be more of ourselves and have free independent thinking of our own?
The answer is BALANCE.
We need to be balanced and act more from the edge of the coin rather be on the extreme side of the coin.
Ok right, I get it Balance – Can you tell me how do we balance it?
If you want a balanced life and still be yourself and express yourself freely. Just do one simple thing.
Do things that you are actually very passionate about. Things that you actually really love doing. Things that’s brings happiness in you without THINKING – what others are thinking about you.
For example, if you are the parents of two kids and love traveling but you just had one bad experience while going on the plane in the past where you overhead some fanatic people’s mean comments on your kid’s behavior, and you decided you won’t travel anymore. DON’T DO THAT- Don’t stop traveling Thinking what other people have to think about your Kids.
Say if you want to go out and need to dress appropriately, have an attitude to dressing because you like to dress, you love wearing DONT DRESS because you want TO impress others or you think what other people are thinking about you when you go out. Do things if you love doing and not for the sake of other people.
JUST BE TRUE TO YOURSELF. Just keep it simple and act accordingly from your inner sense of happiness rather than trying to validate your every move from an external source that you don’t have control over.
See, we do not have control over what other people thoughts are, So why worry about what they think. They are free to have their views and opinions. But their thoughts and opinion shouldn’t change you who you are.
For example, if you want to have a great body, if you think you would love seeing yourself FIT, by all means, go for it. But having a goal of getting FIT thinking what other people are thinking about your belly is wrong. In that way of thinking, You are getting FIT for a completely wrong reason. Even if you get fit, that won’t bring happiness to you because you’ll start thinking now what the heck the other person is thinking. I have six-packs, and now, is he/she is thinking, should I have eight packs?. This never stops.
See, this is a constant loop our mind plays. So for a balanced life and to have a peace of mind and to be yourself Just KEEP IT SIMPLE and do things if you love doing and not do things thinking about what other people are thinking of you to DO. Be yourself and enjoy the LIFE in the present at this moment rather be in constant worry to prove yourself right all the time to this crazy world. Life is too short to be worrying about what other people are thinking about us,
So Enjoy!
