I am sure every one of you at some point in their life has asked this question. We think about it for a few minutes, a few hours and a few days, a few months and then just forget about it and carry on with life. I too asked this question, but I got stuck with it forever.
I read yogi books, followed spiritual people, read books after books, watched lectures after lectures to find the answer to one question. How to Be Happy?
And the only answer I found is Self Love. It was a very consistent message all across my research. To be happy start loving yourself first. If you love yourself you will spread love to others and once you spread love, you will be happy. I was happy that I have cracked the code of being Happy which is SELF LOVE.
But soon I got obsessed with this word SELF LOVE? Like what is this self-love. What is this self-love which everyone knows about it except me? Of course, I love myself there is no doubt about it. In fact, I have no choice but to love myself. I love myself by default, so why so much emphasis on Self Love. I believe we humans by default Love ourself the most. Don’t believe me, take a look at your photos in the phone, don’t you see. it? You have more selfies of yourself than anything else. So for a long time, I was under the impression, Yeah I have cracked the code. I know all about self-love as I love myself and now I know how to be happy.
But is this the true meaning of Self Love?
For a long time, I kept looking around to find the true meaning of self-love and today while driving and listening to a motivational video about Self Discipline by Will Smith, I was finally able to connect the dots with self-love. Now the question is what has self-discipline has to do with Self-love.
Self-discipline is having Self Respect, keeping your Self-esteem. It took me a while to understand it but if you say you love yourself then you need to be self-disciplined to make sure you truly love & respect yourself. You would not allow yourself to do anything which will hurt your self-respect & self-esteem.
For example, if you want to lose weight and want to get in shape you will not allow yourself to eat any unhealthy food. You would need to be self-disciplined to tell yourself “NO – I cannot let you have this slice of pizza, I love you so much that I would hate it when you would not feel good after having this piece of junk food. I love you so much that I just cannot allow you to have this junk food and feel guilty about it. ” Now telling this every day and being self-discipline one day you realize you have achieved that perfect body you always dreamt of. Imagine your happiness levels once you have achieved your goal, the goal which you were struggling for a long time.
By continuously being aware of this fact you slowly develop a habit of being self-discipline in all areas of your life. Personal growth, business, personal relationship and everything you ever dreamt to achieve. You are so self discipline that you love yourself so much nothing on this earth will make you alter from your Goals. One by one you keep achieving your Goals. Everything you ever thought of or dreamt of just by following the simple rule of self-love.
Self Esteem –> Self respect –> Self Discipline –> Self Love
Keep your self-esteem & respect by being self-discipline in your life and you will LOVE YOURSELF for doing that. Follow this simple rule and you will surely be happy that u did it. Not for anyone else but for yourself.
And once you have mastered this simple formula you will crack the code – How to Be Happy and achieve everything that you ever desired 🙂
